ABOUT THE PURPLE PARADE

It is a ground-up movement spearheaded by various organisations from the People, Public and Private sectors, and facilitated by the Central Singapore Community Development Council (Central SG CDC) and The Purple Parade Limited (TPPL), with support from various corporate, public and community partners.

  • Campaign: A publicity and call-to-action effort to drive awareness about The Purple Parade Movement through online and offline activities. 
  • Carnival: A specially curated ‘Eat. Play. Shop’ Marketplace that features quality products crafted by the disability community.  
  • Concert: A line up of performances by persons with and without disabilities to celebrate talents and abilities of our diverse community.
  • Contingent: A parade of solidarity as partners from the People, Public and Private sectors, along with members of the public show their support for inclusion through a massive street parade march-past.  
  • Conversations: Dialogues and discussions to foster a deeper understanding of the issues faced by the disability community.

GENERAL EVENT INFORMATION

No, tickets are not required. The Purple Parade on 12 October 2024 is open to everyone! Join us from 3pm to 7pm at Suntec City.

Yes, The Purple Parade will take place rain or shine.
In the event of any changes or contingency plans, announcements will be made at the event site and also on our social media pages (@PurpleParade).

Stay updated with the latest news and information by following us on Facebook and Instagram.

The safety of our participants remains our top priority.
At The Purple Parade, we encourage participants to continue to exercise responsibility and caution, such as wearing masks when in crowded places or when visiting or interacting with vulnerable persons. Should you feel unwell, go home immediately or see a doctor.

Pregnant ladies are welcome to attend The Purple Parade. Do expect a crowd to be at the event day. We advise all pregnant ladies to be careful when attending the event.

As the parade is at a public space, we do not encourage pets to be there to be considerate to our friends from diverse backgrounds. However, Guide Dogs are welcome at the event.

TRAFFIC ADVISORY AND DIRECTORY

By Taxi / Private Hire:
Drive towards Suntec Singapore (S038984). Refer to our Facebook page for the Traffic Advisory closer to date for the available drop-off / pick-up points and Taxi Stand.

By MRT:
From CC3 Esplanade MRT Station (3 minutes): Take Exit A towards the Suntec Convention Centre.
From CC4 Promenade MRT Station (5 minutes): Take Exit C towards Suntec Tower 4.
From EW13 City Hall MRT Station (8 - 10 minutes): Walk through City Link Mall and then Esplanade Exchange towards Suntec Convention Centre.

Yes, parking is available at Suntec City.

Drive to Suntec Singapore (S038984). Enter basement carpark via Nicoll Highway. Park in the North or West Wing nearer Lobby E, F or B. Refer to the Traffic Advisory for the available carpark entries.

Carpark Charges
Weekend rates: Saturday, Sundays and Public Holidays

• *7.00am - 4.00am: $2.60 for the first hour; $1.30 for the next 3 hours; $1.30 per 30 mins after the 4th hour or part thereof

Temasek Boulevard and the roads leading up to the Fountain of Wealth will be closed from 11am to 8pm for The Purple Parade.

ACCESSIBILITY

Yes, all indoor and outdoor areas at Suntec City during The Purple Parade are wheelchair accessible. However, please be aware that due to the large crowds that we anticipate, the venue may be busier than usual. We recommend arriving early for smoother access.

Yes, earplugs will be available at the Helpdesk, located near the Outdoor Concert Stage.

Yes, we have a Calm Room available at Suntec Convention Centre (Level 3, Rooms 311 and 312). This space is specifically designed to provide a quiet environment for individuals experiencing meltdowns or sensory overload.

Yes, Sign Language Interpretation Service will be provided. The Sign Language Interpreters will be located at the Indoor, Outdoor and Contingent Stages to interpret for the activities happening on stage. The interpreters will sign from spoken English to Singapore Sign Language (SgSL), Signing Exact English (SEE), and/or a combination of the two.

Yes, Accessible Washrooms are available within the Suntec City Mall.

Yes, Guide Dogs are welcome at The Purple Parade. However, due to the large crowds expected, we advise against bringing other pets for their safety and comfort.

CARNIVAL

The Carnival is a specially curated physical Marketplace that features quality products by the disability community.  

The Carnival features:

  • “EAT” booths – food & beverage offerings.  
  • “SHOP” booths – merchandise, crafts, and products, etc.  
  • “PLAY” booths – activities and games, etc.  

All transactions at the Carnival will be made using coupons. You can purchase these coupons online in advance (by 6 October 2024) or at the Coupon Booth on the day of the event. Cash or PayNow will not be accepted for direct purchases at the Carnival booths.

No, the coupons are valid only for use at the Carnival booths on the event day. Please note that unused coupons are non-refundable.

Proceeds from the sale of carnival coupons, event merchandise and sponsored Carnival booths will go towards a good cause of supporting eligible disability organisations (registered IPCs and/or Charities) who are participating in the parade.

CONCERT

The Concert features a series of performances by persons with and without disabilities, celebrating the abilities of our community. Everyone can watch the concert on 12 October 2024.

  • Indoor Concert: Located at Suntec City Atrium 1 & 2, starting at 2pm
  • Outdoor Concert: Located at Suntec Plaza (opposite Fountain of Wealth), starting at 3pm

The performance line-up will be announced closer to the event date. Stay updated by following our Facebook and Instagram pages for the latest details.

If you are sensitive to loud music or sounds, earplugs are available at the Help Desk, located near the Outdoor Concert Stage.

The Purple Parade is a rain-or-shine event. In the event of heavy rain and lightning, performances at the outdoor stage will be temporarily paused. Indoor performances will continue as scheduled. Announcements will be made onsite for any updates.

CONTINGENT

A Contingent March is a parade of solidarity where partners from the People, Public and Private sectors, along with members of the public, show their support for inclusion through a large street parade march-past.

The Contingent March starts at the Fountain of Wealth, extends towards the overhead bridge along Temasek Boulevard, and turns into the Suntec Convention Centre. The 350-m walk should take around 10 minutes, depending on the pace.

The Contingent March is reserved for registered organisations and groups. As registration has already closed, we are unable to accommodate additional participants for safety and crowd management. However, you’re encouraged to cheer on the marchers and visit the Eat.Play.Shop Carnival booths!

If it is a slight drizzle, participants will be provided ponchos and the March will still proceed as planned.
If it is heavy rain, Contingent March may be delayed slightly, but would still continue for groups who are keen to join in.
If it is a thunderstorm, the March will be cancelled.
Contingent ICs will be notified of the latest announcements by the Organiser.

Contingent participants will not be provided with The Purple Parade t-shirts. You may wish to support by purchasing the Purple Parade t-shirt via our website or wear any purple attire to match the event’s theme.

Yes, you can wear your corporate tee during the march and use The Purple Parade’s logo on your corporate t-shirt. Do send the t-shirt design to joinus@purpleparade.sg for approval before printing. Please note that The Purple Parade logo is a trademark and t-shirts with The Purple Parade logo cannot be sold.

Bottled water will not be provided. Participants are encouraged to bring your own water or purchase beverage from our Carnival booths.
